Bologna — The City

Bologna is a lively and welcoming city, with its porticoes and its historical centre: it boasts one of the largest and best preserved medieval historic centers in Europe. In Bologna, there is also the oldest university in the world, the Alma Mater Studiorum, which gave it the nickname of “Dotta” together with the “Grassa” for its culinary tradition and the “Turrita” for its characteristic two towers. Bologna has also a lot of “osterie”, good restaurants, bookstores, museums and churches.
